Faeces can uncover valuable information as to what is wrong with the stomach, intestines or another part of the gastrointestinal system. The most comon reasons to test the stool sample is to determine whether a type of bacteria or parasite may be infecting the intestines. Stool samples can also be analysed for what it contains; for instance test for fat content. Further the fecal occult blood tests, can be used to diagnose many conditions that cause bleeding in the intergastrointestinal system including colorectal cancer and stomach cancer.
Unlike most other laboratory tests, stool is normally collected by the patient at home but patients find the collection difficult, unpleasant and unhygenic to perform.
More than 50% of patients take a stool sample direct from the toilet bowel. Sampling from the toilet bowel may not only be difficult for the elderly or disabled, but also create potential measurement error, due to the loss of content from the stool into the surrounding water (a dilution effect), or contamination from toilet sanitisers and toilet water additive.
EasySampler avoids all of these issues and ensures an accurate analysis of these stool sample and significantly reduces the risk of an erronous result.
